For this card, I decided to create a mountain meadow landscape using the Sponged and Masked Background Technique, along with the 2-step stamp set Wild About Flowers.
My inspiration came from the wildflowers that are starting to bloom in all different colors here in the mountains of southern Colorado!
The Sponged and Masked Background is a super easy technique, and the possibilities are endless!
All you need is a piece of torn computer paper, ink, and a sponge.
To start, simply tear a piece of computer paper to use as a mask to separate the line between the sky and the ground.
The paper can be torn in any way you want depending on what kind of landscape you’d like.
Place the torn computer paper onto the bottom section of a piece of Whisper White card stock. Then, add the sky colors above the torn paper using a sponge.
For this card, I used Marina Mist ink.
Remove the mask, and you will see a definite separation between the sky and what will then become the ground.
Now, you can sponge on color to create the ground.
For this card, I used Pear Pizzazz ink.
Once you are satisfied with the colors, it is now time to stamp the main images.
For the flowers, I used the 2-step stamp Wild About Flowers. First, I stamped the leaves using Tranquil Tide ink. Then, I used the 2nd step coordinating flower image stamped in Berry Burst, Crushed Curry, and Fresh Fig inks.
I added grass using the image from In the Meadow (retired) stamped using Tranquil Tide and Pear Pizzazz inks full strength, then stamped again without reinking.
The butterflies also came from In the Meadow and were stamped using Dapper Denim ink.
The greeting is from Dragonfly Dreams and was stamped onto Crushed Curry matting using Dapper Denim ink.
