One of my favorite techniques is faux quilting. I found a great website called equiltblocks.com that has a wide array of quilting patterns. Of course, they are meant for fabric quilting, but I have found that many are easy to transfer over for paper quilting.
One of the patterns that really intrigued me was called “Moon Over the Mountain.” It reminded me of my company name, Blue Moon Creations, and my banner on this blog site.
This was my first attempt. I wanted it to have the colors and the look of my banner.
Here is a little different take:
The night sky background is Noveau Chic, retired Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper from a few years back. For the moon, I punched out 2- 2 1/2″ circles. The first was punched out of the Island Indigo hearts patterned paper found in Sweet Shop DSP pack. The second was punched out of a piece of retired Taste of Textiles Not Quite Navy polka dot vellum paper. One circle is simply layered on top of the other. I really like how the vellum paper softens the paper behind it, making it look like a swirly, cloudy moonlit night.
