Paper Flowers with Straw Stems

Paper Flowers with Straw Stems

Looking for a fresh twist on paper crafting? Say hello to paper flowers with a sip of fun—these charming blooms come with straw stems! 🌸🥤

Whether you’re raiding your scrap bin or showing off your favorite patterned paper, this project is a playful way to mix creativity with gratitude.

I whipped up a colorful bouquet of die-cut flowers to surprise my Ladies of Wetmore stamping group—and let me tell you, they were blooming delighted!

Paper Flowers with Straw Stems How-to:

1.Create the Flower Petals and Leaves:

-Die-cut or punch 8 petals using oval or circle shapes out of various designs of paper

-Die-cut or punch 2-4 leaves using oval or circle shapes out of various designs of paper

-Punch a small hole on one end of each of the pieces.  I used a 1/4″ hole punch.

-Die-cut or punch 2 -1 1/4″ circles , one for the top of the flower and one for the bottom of the petals.  Punch a small hole in the center of each circle.

2.Assemble the Flowers

-Thread one of the punched circles into a straw

-Add a touch of liquid glue to the top of the circle

-Thread one of the petals into the top of the straw, securing it to the circle.

-Continue adding petals and leaves, securing each with a small amount of liquid glue.

-Add a touch of liquid glue to the bottom of the second punched circle.  Thread into the top of the straw, securing it to the top petals.

3.Complete the Flowers

-Tie a piece of ribbon around the straw stem

-Stamp greeting on a piece of coordinating card stock

-Punch using a 1″ circle punch

-Punch a small hole in the top of the greeting and thread a piece of linen thread or baker’s twine

-Tie the greeting to the ribbon on the straw stem

-For the topper, I cut and folded a strip of coordinating card stock.  Then I cut it with a pair of multi-bladed scissors and rolled it into a tight circle, leaving an opening to thread into the top of the straw, securing it with a bit of liquid glue.

These paper flowers are a simple, joyful way to brighten someone’s day—and they’re perfect for using up those leftover paper scraps we all have.

With just a few punches or dies, some fun patterned paper, and a straw for the stem, you can create a sweet handmade gift that’s as unique as each recipient.

Whether for a friend, a group, or your own creative joy, these blooms are sure to bring smiles!
