Watercolor Ombre Technique Meets Detailed Dragonfly

Ombre Dragonfly Dreams

The Watercolor Ombre technique is perfect for the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Die!

Ombre Dragonfly Dreams close up

It is so easy to do and the possibilities are endless!

Here’s how:

Using an Aqua Painter and drops of ink refills, swipe bands of gradient colors onto a piece of watercolor paper

For this piece, I used Smokey Slate, Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, and Rich Razzleberry.

(inspired by the paint chips used for my paint chip Lift Me Up Balloon Card)

I opened my ink pads, added a drop or two of the coordinating ink refill in the top of the pad and used that as my palette.

Watercolor Ombre Technique How To

I set the paper aside to dry completely.

Once it was dried, I cut the dragonflies out using the Detail Dragonfly Thinlits Die.

The dragonfly background was created using the image in Dragonfly Dreams stamp set stamped onto my card front using Smokey Slate ink.  The greeting is also from Dragonfly Dreams and was stamped onto my Smokey Slate card base using Elegant Eggplant.  The cut dragonflies were popped up onto the card front using Dimensionals.

I hope you’ll give the Watercolor Ombre Technique a try.  I’d love to see your creations!
