The theme for our Saturday Stamp Club card swap in August was “recycle and reuse.”
Here’s my contribution:
I kicked ideas around in my head for awhile because after all, the possibilities of what could be used for this challenge were endless. One morning I was out in my garden dead heading flowers when I had a light bulb moment. Why not stamp using flowers!
I cut a pretty zinnia bloom and headed into the house! I got out some acrylic paint and a brush and started experimenting.
I don’t have a big selection of acrylic paint in my crafting stash. Two of the colors I have are Cranberry and Golden Straw. I mixed the two together on a plastic lid to get a fun color palette:
I inked up the zinnia bloom by placing it right in the paint,
then stamped it on a piece of Whisper White card stock. I stamped it a few times without reinking the flower just to see how it would do. The 1st stamping is the one in the upper left. See how it is kind of globby? I just kept stamping and got a different image each time.
When I had my technique down, I created the 7 images I needed for the card swap. Each image is different! So cool!
I found that I could get 3-4 stamped images before reinking the flower again. After reinking, I would stamp off onto my work sheet so I wouldn’t have globby images. Here’s what my work sheet paper looked like when I was done. So pretty, and I couldn’t even think of throwing it away. It was used for another project which I’ll share soon.
For the matting and to continue on with the recycle and reuse theme, I used the white card board backing that comes in the packaging for Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! I simply painted it with the Golden Straw acrylic paint.
Did you notice the “Bloom!” in the lower left hand corner? I was experimenting building a greeting using the Designer Typeset Photopolymer Designer set from Stampin’ Up! In the end, I went with my favorite greeting from Bloomin’ Marvelous.
So fun! Be sure to check back over the next few days as I will be sharing some other creations using this technique.
