Friend Cross Word Puzzle

This is the card I created for the Sunday Stamp Club swap.  The theme was to use numbers or letters.  This card started out as something completely different in my head!  Originally, I was going to use dictionary pages, then some old music sheets that my Mom had given me.  Then I thought I would create just a jumble of letters in My Digital Studio.  Then, I thought I’d make a word jumble puzzle.  That idea morphed into creating a word search puzzle .  That idea, eventually turned into this final project.  Whew!  This one wore me out!

Friend Crossword puzzle 001

There are numerous websites that allow you to create your own word scrabble, word search or crossword puzzles.  Some are free, some are not. A lot are geared towards educators to create for classrooms. One great web site is www.armoredpenguin.com.   I actually created a couple of word search and crossword puzzles on this site, but I ended using the daily puzzle found on USATODAY.com   What is cool about this site is that you can work the puzzle right online.  I had a list of words I wanted to use in my card (remember I started out wanting to make a word search puzzle), and I just filled in the blanks on the puzzle where the words would fit.  Of course, the words I was using were not the correct words to complete the puzzle, so they were being filled in in red, telling me they were the wrong word!  No problem, once I was done, I just printed it out in black and white.

The mesh on the card is drywall mesh that I have had in my crafting supplies for years.  And I mean years.  I purchased this roll of drywall mesh at a local home improvement store when I first started making cards, probably 10 years ago. Amazingly, the sticky backing still sticks!

The greeting is from With All My Heart, and was stamped using Whisper White craft ink.
