Happy Easter Chocolate Bunny-CASology Bunny Challenge
This week’s CASology Cue Challenge is “Bunny.” Since I never pass up a chance to create a bun bun, whether it be for Easter or otherwise (see more below), I knew I had to participate.
Here’s my contribution.
I simply printed and cut out the pattern, then traced it on a piece of Crumb Cake card stock folded in half. I placed the template so the rabbit’s tail would be cut on the fold so it opens as a regular card. It measures approx 4 1/2″ x 6″.
After I cut the pattern, I embossed it using my Big Shot and Fancy Fan Embossing Folder. The tail is a 5/8″ Flower Trim (found in the SU! Spring Catalog). I first colored it with my Pink Pirouette marker, then added more color using my Primrose Petals marker. It is attached to where the card folds at the rabbit’s tail with a Mini Glue Dot.
This rabbit could be embellished in any number of ways, but I really like the simplicity of the pattern and kept it simple for the clean and simple challenge.

A few years back, our household included a very sweet gray house rabbit named July. July was a stray, domestic bunny who appeared one day on our property. I brought her into the house fully expecting to find and return her to her owner. That didn’t happen, and after bunny-proofing the house, she became a full-fledged and active member of our household (including 3 cats and a dog). July was very, very smart and very, very stubborn, but she was the sweetest creature ever. She became my constant companion, especially while I worked in my craft room. To this day, I still have a framed photo of her on my craft desk.
This project may seem like it coincides with Easter and all the Easter Bunny projects that will be hitting the blogs. I know that a lot of people purchase rabbits for their kids at Easter time because, well, they are so cute. But, rabbits are complicated creatures who definitely have personalities of their own. I could go into all the reasons why rabbits DON’T make good pets, especially for kids. And I could go into all the reasons why rabbits DO make good pets if you are willing to work at it.
But, what I will say is, please, please, please do not bring a rabbit into your home unless you have done your homework and understand fully the needs of rabbits and how that may affect your household. We did not realize how complicated a house rabbit could be until after July was already a part of our family. I did a lot of reading and research, and we spent a good number of hours trying to stay one step ahead, bunny-proofing our home so it would be safe and comfortable for her. I loved and miss my bun bun July to this day, but I don’t think I’d ever bring another rabbit into the house.
