I am so excited to be the Guest Designer this week over at Merry Monday! I am very honored and thank the members of the Merry Monday Design Team!
The idea behind Merry Mondays is to get ahead of the Christmas rush by creating one Christmas card each week throughout the year. A sketch is given to inspire. What a great idea!
Here is my contribution:
For this special honor, I wanted to try my hand at making one of those beautiful ornaments using the new Ornament Keepsakes and coordinating Holiday Ornaments Framelits from Stampin’ Up! These ornaments take some time to make, but the end results are so worth it!
Here’s how:
1. Stamp 8 large Gumball Green and 8 small Primrose Petals ornaments on Whisper White card stock using the Ornaments Keepsakes stamp set. Cut out each ornament using the Big Shot and Holiday Ornaments Framelits.
2. Score 4 each of the large and small ornaments down the middle, top to tip, and fold.
3. On each scored ornament, run a bead of Tombow Multi-Purpose Glue along the back side of the score line and place on top of the flat ornaments. Set aside to allow the glue to dry completely.
3. Punch a 1 3/8″ circle out of a scrap piece of card stock to use as the ornament base. Position the large ornaments around the circle base. Their tops should meet in the center of the circle. Attach using glue. Tuck the smaller ornaments in between the larger ornaments and attach using glue. Set aside to allow the glue to dry completely.
4. Add ribbon in between the ornaments. I used 2″ Certainly Celery 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon folded in half and secured with Mini Glue Dots on the back side of the circle base.
5. Attach the completed ornament to the prepared card base, applying glue to the back side of the circle base.
6. Punch a 3/4″ circle out of Raspberry Ripple card stock.
7. Thread Baker’s Twine through the holes of a clear faceted button, tying the ends to the back.
8. Glue the punched circle to the center of the ornament.
8. Glue the button to the center circle.
The greeting is Curly Cute, a My Digital Studio download. I printed it on Whisper White card stock, then cut it out using my Big Shot and the banner on the Petals Cone die.
Here is the original sketch:
