May the beauty of Christmas

be yours throughout the year!

Merry Christmas from my Family to Yours

This is my contribution to this week’s Nacho Average Color Challenge: Old Olive, Perfect Plum, and Soft Suede.  These are certainly non-traditional Christmas colors, but I like them!

Merry Christmas Flocked Tree

This card is part of our Christmas gift to my Mom this year.  She asked for a tree to be planted in her front yard.  Inside is a gift card for a tree of her choice to be picked at our local nursery and planted by us.  These non-traditional colors work perfectly for this gift. I love it when a plan comes together!

The technique is Faux Flocking.  Simply distress pieces of card stock using a distressing tool to get little, itty bitty flecks of paper.  This is certainly a labor of love technique as it takes a while to distress enough paper to fill an image.  This is a good technique to do while you sit in front of the tv. Too bad Dancing With the Stars is done for the season!

Then add some glue to the image (Crystal Effects or Tombow Multi-Purpose) and apply the distressed paper.  Use tweezers to apply small amounts of paper in small areas so it doesn’t all clump in one spot.  I used a toothpick to move the paper around.  Set aside to dry.

I watched the videos and realized how to do a shaker card. Pretty cool. The bubble wrap card is so much fun. The blue really stands out in each card. I like your videos. You get right to the card instructions. Great creative ideas. -D Welch
